This magnificent French hand carved rosewood armoire with 2 mirrored doors dates from about 1895. The original finish has been polished to a gleaming patina.
This antique furniture shows unrivaled quality and meticulous workmanship everywhere. The rococo crests have very high relief, the panels are all quarter matched, drawers are hand dovetailed. The rosewood has a sublime delicate grain and color, is extremely hard, and has a silken finish.
The armoire is simply spectacular - curved sides, shaped and beveled mirror doors, and an extraordinary carved crest at the top. The interior is mahogany with adjustable wooden shelves, and the inside of the doors is birdseye maple.
There are only minor mars at the edges, plus a dent on the right side of the armoire, see photo. Size is 4'9" wide, 22" deep and 8'4" tall. D-B1943c
