The Sheraton period is well represented in this mahogany chest of drawers. It has carved columns and matched flame grain, and the gleaming finish is in excellent condition. This genuine New England antique dresser dates from about 1835.
Entirely hand made, drawers have hand-cut dovetails and the rough-sawn back shows square nailheads. Entirely solid and usable, there are minor shrinkage cracks from age, and repairs, including an "ear" on the backsplash which has been reglued - see photos.
The deeply embossed brass hardware is correct in style, but appears to be replicas from less than 100 years ago. Dimensions of this historic furniture are 45" wide, 21" deep and 53" tall. W-D1641
